Mayhemfest Bands Announced! Bathroom Breaks Officially Planned!

Mayhem Festival

Oh boy oh boy, 2010 looks to be a big metal festival year! The Big Four may tour together, Ozzfest is supposed to return, and Warped Tour is more metal than usual. Now the Mayhemfest people have drawn their swords and are offering their lineup for digest. Now, as any good festival planner will tell ya, you gotta throw in a few clunkers to the mix so everyone can go get nachos or pinch a loaf off. This year is definitely no different. My opinions and all dates after the jump.

Main Stage:

Korn: No early leaving for me. Been a few years since I've seen Korn live, and I have an inkling to hear Blind one more time. Let's just hope they leave new material to a minimun.

Rob Zombie: Rob's been doing a toned down approach for his last few festival appearances, so I think the same will apply here. Not that that's a bad thing. Less antics equals a better pure onstage performance.

Lamb of God: HELL FUCKING YES!! It'll be a shortened set for them, but any LOG is good LOG.

Five Finger Death Punch: Official Pinch-A-Loaf time. If I'm really lucky, I'll get to squeeze it out right on their snare drum, so the drummer gets splattered with every hit.

Mayhem Festival Stage:
Atreyu: Eh, couldn't give a shit either way. Atreyu were able to squeeze out some decent hard rock with A Deathgrip On Yesterday, but their later albums were a big fat bore. I say official nacho/expensive burger/$8.00 soft drink time.

Norma Jean: It's a keeper! Norma can bring it live, and with this 30-minute slot, they'll have to cram as much in as they can.

In This Moment: Torn here. ITM have some decent songs and some very dull ones too. Still, they have the amazing super power of "Lead Singer Chick With Huge Boobies", so I might stay just for the jiggle factor.

3 Inches of Blood: Perfect music to start your day: high-pitched throwback metal, with topics ranging from killing people with swords to killing more people with more swords.
Jager Stage
Hatebreed: Whoa! Look who got dropped down the bill. Honestly, these guys should be a lot higher up, latest record sales not withstanding. Of course, this is the same spot that Machine Head had a few years back, and Hatebreed can cram a lot more songs into the 30 minutes than MH can, so it's a wash for now.

Chimaira:  Never seen these guys in a festival, but like LOG, any Chimaira is good Chimaira.

Shadows Fall: Like Hatebreed, these guys should be way higher on the set list. Who the hell is managing them, someone with a bad case of "forgot who Shadows Fall is" syndrome? I bet they were hoping to get at least top billing on a side stage. Second fiddle doesn't suit them.

Winds of Plague: Official "check out the t-shirt stands at the start of the day" band.

And now, the tour dates. Tix go on sale in early April, so start saving your pennies now.
