Remembering a Great Musician

Last year Ronnie James Dio lost his battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2009 and after treatment after treatment he was unable to fight on. A large memorial service was held in his honour which attracted some of the best metal has to offer to pay their tributes. The man who brought "the horns" to metal fans was one of the best (if not the best) vocalists in metal history. With his small stature and his frail frame, everyone was amazed at the sound that he was capable of making. Because of this talent, he attracted many fans to see him perform in Elf, Rainbow and when he took over the singing duties in Black Sabbath in the early 80's. After leaving Sabbath, Ronnie formed the band Dio and continued to do what he did best; belt out some of the epic lyrics ever to be written.

Well, they say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who’ll blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's heaven and hell

And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's heaven and hell

Cheers, Dio! Hope to have a drink with you somewhere in the afterlife!
