8-Bit Metal Mondays: Orion Is A Go

Metallica announced all the details for their Orion Music and More festival today, and it's a landslide of info. The fest, happening on June 8th and 9th in my own back yard of Belle Isle, Michigan, is a mix of metal and non-metal acts spanning across five stages. It's gonna also have a ton of side show attractions, like a Metallica museum, a film fest with flicks picked by Lars himself, a car and bike show, and plenty of other exhibits as well.

At it's heart, Orion is about music, and the line-up here is pretty strong. First are the headliners, with Metallica closing the show on the second night and the Red Hot Chili Peppers taking the first night. Then it's a mix of bands like the Deftones, Gogol Bordello, All Shall Perish, Dropkick Murphys, Battlecross, and a wide assortment of other bands. It's a collection for everyone.

Tickets are a bit pricey at $150 for a two day pass and $750 VIP passes for those who feel they have money to burn. However, for Metallica to play a festival in one's own neighborhood, I think I can pass up a few games to see this event.

You can find out more about tix and all the acts at Orionmusicandmore.com. As for right now, enjoy some bleepy Metallica goodness.

  1. How did I not know about this? RHCP and Metallica, plus Dropkick Murphys? Now I need to see when it's coming to Dallas. Thanks, riff.
