As the title would suggest, I am now the the owner of Nintendo's console du jour, the Wii U. Thank you to my tax refund for the purchase. As I sat down after hooking the whole shibang together, I came away with these thoughts:
1. The Wii U Gamepad is still a joy to hold. I remember clasping an early build of it at E3 2011 back when it had two analog sliders. Now those sliders have become actual clickable thumbsticks and feel so much better. Too bad I don't have any games for it. Well, not really, which leads me to...\
2. I picked up the deluxe edition because I wanted some decent hard drive space, the rechargeable dock for the Gamepad, and BLACK IS EVIL!!!!!! It also came with Nintendoland, the Wii Sports of our generation. At all the convention spots I went to and tried to enjoy these obvious demos, I just couldn't. Even on the privacy of my own home, it's obvious that these damn party games just aren't my style. Anyways, when I have friends over, I usually break out Street Fighter, not a bunch of Wiimotes.
Still, even though I can only play my older Wii games and Virtual Console titles for now, it's the promise of the future games incoming that made me pursue my purchase.
Now, as far as I know, there aren't any Wii U bleepy metal tunes. That is, unless, I'm either blind or deaf. Instead, enjoy these metalized Mario and Zelda tunes.
